At Cubby’s, we believe in supporting the communities we call home. This September, we are proud to stand with Food Bank for the Heartland and Feeding America during Hunger Action Month, a nationwide movement to raise awareness about food insecurity and inspire collective efforts to fight hunger.
Across Nebraska and western Iowa, hunger is a growing challenge. Right now, 1 in 7 individuals and 1 in 5 children face food insecurity. Since 2023, food insecurity across the Heartland has surged by 50%, leaving too many of our neighbors struggling to afford meals. Hunger Action Month is a powerful reminder that together, we can make a difference.
A simple way to make an impact is by rounding up your purchase at any Cubby’s location. Now through December 31, every time you shop, you’ll have the option to round up at the register, with all proceeds going directly to support neighbors experiencing food insecurity. It’s an easy, everyday way to join the fight against hunger and help ensure families across the Heartland have access to the meals they need.
The Food Bank for the Heartland is working to raise the equivalent of 1.6 million meals this September to bridge the gap for families in need. Every action, big or small, can have an incredible impact. Here are some ways you can support Hunger Action Month this September:
- Hunger Action Day: Tuesday, September 9
- Show your support by wearing orange, the color of hunger relief, and help raise awareness
- Omaha Restaurant Week: September 12 – 21
- Dine out and give back! 5% of all proceeds will benefit the Food Bank. See participating restaurants – https://www.visitomaha.com/restaurantweek/
- Matched Giving Opportunity – All Month
- Make a financial gift during September and it will be matched up to $75,000, doubling your impact.
At Cubby’s, we believe that when neighbors come together, great things happen. This September, let’s unite in the fight against hunger and ensure every family in the Heartland has access to the food they need to thrive.
